My Training & Qualifications
BSc Psychology with Physiology (University of Greenwich)
MSc Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy (Middlesex University).
Diploma in Clinical Supervision (Integrative)
I trained at the Metanoia Institute in west London. My training, validated by Middlesex University, is also recognized by the UKCP, the main organizational body for psychotherapy in the UK. Metanoia has a high reputation as one of the leading training institutions in the UK in counselling and psychotherapy.
I am also a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) with Psychotherapy specialty – this means that I am a qualified member of the UK’s Association for Transactional Analysis.
All of my work is supervised by another therapist who is also a qualified supervisor, who oversees and monitors my work. I feel that this is an essential part of delivering an ethical and professional service to my clients. See my Ethics page for more details.
During my training I was engaged in voluntary work at Brescia Young People’s Counselling Service (Brentwood) and MCPS in Ealing (a low-cost counselling service).
For 7 years I worked at a specialist clinic at Guy’s Hospital (South London & Maudsley NHS Trust). I also have 8 years’ experience of counselling in a palliative care (Hospice) setting.
I have been in private practice since 2003 and this, together with supervision, constitutes the bulk of my work.
My Special Interests
Of course, I offer help with all the things you’d usually find on a therapist’s ‘menu’ … … …
Depression – Stress – Low Self-Esteem – Anxiety – Addictions – Anger – Motivational Problems – etc
…. but as well as more general counselling and psychotherapy work, I have special interests. These include:
- Relationship Problems (including couple therapy)
- Sexual Problems
- Issues of Sexuality
(For more information on these, please find the psychosexual therapy page.)
- Life-threatening and terminal illness
- People who work in the performing or creative arts
I am an LGBT – positive practitioner
I also have an interest in working with parents of premature babies & babies born with serious illnesses, and parents who have lost a child. I recently became part of the network of counsellors working for BLISS, a national charity working in this field.
